Since September 9th, the people in Bangsak are working on another project: The new project in Bangsak includes the interlocking bricks, which will be used by the homestay project.

This homestay project includes 14 rooms. Five twin rooms and four single rooms. These 14 units will be build by the usage of the interlocking bricks we are producing ourselves.

Another part of this project is the recycling of old longtailboats which will be used as foundation for a houseboat. With this attraction Bangsak people want to attract tourists who are interested to live in such a boathouse. The boathouse will be presented by two units.

Further steps will be done depending on the frequency of tourists, such as a unit including different types of homes build by different kinds of foundations. So the first step includes 14 units build by the usage of home-produced interlocking bricks and another two boathouses unit. With the cooperation of the Bangsak people especially the ones who are still working with us together, we came up with the idea, that each of these units will not have numbers.

Instead the usage of numbers the people will use their language to give each unit their character. Such as room Laya. Laya in Morgan language means in Thai chang, in English elephant and in German Elefant. With the giving of names the project is still not explained at all. Further the women are going to make batik. Batik is a work with whom you are able to draw pictures on fabric and clothes. So the decoration inside the Laya room will include different issues about elephants, such as pillow covers, blankets, curtains, etc.

The women will get help by pupils who are learning at the school Rajprajanukhlo nearby. The pupils are working with batik for a while already and are short of fabrics now. Mrs. Galaya (head of the kitchen) whose children are learning at that school just overhanded an amount of fabrics so that the pupils can go on develop their imagination.

The school informed us that they are short in many other things too, such as the finance of teachers (appr.10), facing water problems everyday and shortage of other equipments which will be used for the batik work. We do have a good connection with the school director and he is looking forward to have an NOC Instructor from Germany at his school during December the 7th or 8th until December the 20th.

This is the view from Top.

The left part is the part from where you can see the Andaman easily. The beach is approximately 500m away.

On the right part the multipurpose complex will be constructed.

And in the surroundings you will face the homes of the people in Bangsak.

People at our project in Bangsak are happy about the Pick Up. Without Pick-Up constructing would be more difficult. The villagers are developing more and more self esteem. Where once the people said, it is not possible are now doing almost everything independent. Organizing is one thing, using the pick- up in the morning to buy food and during day to buy construction materials.

Sawat in the back surrounded by Lamay and Ba Bom. Isn’t there a touch of sea pirates. Perhaps their ancestors have been really pirates or sea gypsies.

Mrs. Galaya, one of our people we helped, is our representative when over handing fabrics for the batik at the 35th Rajaprajanugroh school in Bangsak on Monday the 14th of December 2005. She said she felt uncomfortable because she had never done this before, but still she felt proud, because actually it is vice versa.

Another tower has been set up by the Thai government. This tower will get signals from Bangkok and should make an alert in case of another Tsunami.
