Ban Bangsak: After a long period waiting for Chorry Wood from Laos to produce the needed long tail boats, I am happy to pronounce, that in cooperation with the German Embassy Stephanie Kage, Mrs. Pagaval, Office of The Permanent Secretary, Office of The Prime Minister Mr. Sampat Ninpan and Mr. Raksak Sukvises, Suphan P.P.R. Limited Partnership Mrs. Kruachan Ruanthongkham, Tax Department, The Forest Department and the Government of the peoples Republic of Laos has finally arranged the transportation of a certain amount of Chorry Wood from Laos to Bangsak.

Some people might ask me why it must be this kind of wood and why don’t you just simple buy complete boats. The answer is that in all of our projects the villagers are important. Still after almost one year it is that the villagers are playing the main part. The WILLI HILFT e.V. is there to help and support the needs of the victims in Bangsak. We still work together with the villagers and let them make the decisions, as long as it is reasonable.

So the reason why we did order this special wood was that chorrie wood lasts longer than the usual used woods. The consistency of chorrie wood is different and makes the boats stronger and lasting longer. The point is that these boats don’t have to be fixed and repaired after a short time of use. We all know, that these fishermen will face a hard future, so what we can do is to build boats for them who will last as long as possible, and don’t have to be repaired after one year.

Another reason why we build the boats by the villagers is that work at the moment is rare. What we are aiming with the buying of wood is to produce working places.

Making a prayer before starting to work.
Even the Morgans believe in ghosts. Here they are praying and making their wishes.
The equipment to the right will be blessed by offering chicken, fruits and rice.

With a big bang the negative spirits shall go away and the work can go on!
